Community Service & Events
Kiana Davis facilitated a discussion about mental health and self care in honor of World Mental Health Day on Sunday, October 10, 2021. The opportunity to lead this discussion came from Gabby Braddock, owner and founder of No Plan B Consulting located on Main Street in Boonton, NJ. Other than tutoring and being an educator, mental health and self care advocation is another huge passion Kiana has! The discussion surrounded the importance of holding intentional space for one’s breath, various self care activities, and different ways to cope with life’s many stressors.
As Kiana continues her studies towards becoming a Clinical Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Counselor, she strives to be an advocate for mental health awareness within her community. She feels that mental health and self care are vital to one’s overall well being and ability to show up as their best selves in life. Kiana even implements mindfulness activities that support children’s mental health within her tutoring sessions. Kiana will be holding monthly mental health discussions at the same location through the end of 2021! Stay tuned for more mental health groups or events in the future!
Tutor Kids n’ More was graciously offered an opportunity by Boonton Parks & Recreation to participate in this year’s annual Boonton Day event! The event consisted of dozens of local small business that lined the entire Main Street in Boonton. Hundreds of people came out on this beautiful day to take part in all the fun, food, games, and more! Kiana’s table featured many different fun activities and learning items!
Some items included reading and writing work books, Tutor Kids n’ More pencils, themed color by number kits, crayons, mini chalkboards, chalk, and much more. She even featured a “Guess How Many Bubblegums” game where participants entered by guessing how many bubblegums were in the jar.
The winner received either a free hour of babysitting or tutoring! Last but definitely not least, Kiana collected donations for The Morristown Neighborhood House’s school supplies once again! Kiana thoroughly enjoyed meeting and interacting with so many nice families. She is super excited to be apart of Boonton Day next year as well!
This particular collaboration was very close to heart! Tutor Kids n’ More decided to collaborate with a local business, Willow St. Boutique, to organize a school supply drive for under privileged children in the community. The children attend the Morristown Neighborhood House for preschool, before/after school care, tutoring, sports, professional development, and other extra curricular activities! Kiana and her younger sister were once students at the Morristown Neighborhood House as well. Kiana has always felt the need to give back somehow,
The event took place on September 13th and 14th, 2019. Kiana spent both days in the store greeting those that came in to donate supplies! With the help of Willow St. Boutique and many other generous donations, Kiana was able to raise hundreds of dollars in school supplies for the Morristown Neighborhood House children! Kiana is very grateful for her ability to organize such events and making a difference in as many childrens’ lives as possible. Kiana looks forward to planning the next fundraiser/drive in her community!
